After 4 Years

I am not good at keeping journals, but thought I would try this again.

My website has undergone some major changes over the past couple of months.   I have added color images.  This is mostly due to the fact that the subject matter seems to demand the use of color in many cases.   The images of Myanmar(Oct 2014) and Cartagena, Columbia(Jan 2015) have special qualities where color is imperative to produce the right expression.

Take a look through the new posts.   They represent a departure from my prior images, with more coverage of people, rather than only scenes.

I am also working on different printing methods.  After a great workshop this Summer on photopolymer photogravure, I am spending a good deal of time trying to implement this printing method with my B&W prints.

Have a trip planned for October to Yellowstone.   Picked this time period to avoid many of the crowds that are present during the Summer months and also to coincide with the Elk 'rut season'.   We will see if I have chosen wisely.

Stay tuned.

Color is Sometimes Necessary

O-Hill's Bounty

Hot, humid weather brings out a bounty of fungus.  The colors are varied, but here in black and white the textures and shapes are more vital.

They Just Keep Popping Up

A little moisture and a little heat and they appear like magic.   Enjoy!

Random Acts of Nature

Time for different subject matter.... still  B&W.  Color is having the entire dictionary with which to speak, while B&W is just words of one sound.

And Then There Were Twenty

A small delay in reorganizing these, but wanted to have the final image in the proper order.

Revisions

The earlier duplicate posts have been removed.

Part of the Rural Landscape

While B&W is my preferred palate, holding saturation on some colors(R/O top, Y/G below) helps to maintain the separation in image players that would minimized in the B&W image.

Time is not kind to even the strongest materials.  Instability(above) and surface erosion(below) speed the passage to dust and only faded memories>
